Magoa's rotary cascade

Hi

It's mine first cascade with "next gen" case (powder paint, whole case is made on machine) . I've already built chillers in this kind of cases , but it's first cascade . Tech is "standart" - two rotary compressors, plate HX, TXV and R507/R1150 . Only I've decided to use BIG 3.0 KW condensor to have good discharge pressures even in warm room, and with closed case . Fiting such a big condensor has been bit tricky .

Specs :

compressors: LG NK164PAB on 1st stage (10000 BTU), Toshiba PG160 on 2nd stage (9000 BTU)
evap: steeper
XV: Danfoss TES2 / captube 0.9 mm
HX: plate HX , 12 plates
condenser: 3.0 Kw, alu-cu, cooled by 300mm/230V fan
refrigerants : R507/R1150
oilseparator : Shine Year automatic
safety : RANCO cut-off
case : metal case, 54 x 50 x 43 cm, black paint
others: 4*REFCO panel gauges, ANACONDA shocks absorber on 1st stage suction line,Dixell XR10C controller (turn on 2nd stage automatically when 1st stage is enought cold), homemade receiver before Danfoss TES2, 2* NIDEC 120mm fans on the back wall of case



















Temperatures after first charge, before tunning on heatload .







I must mod a bit top side of condensor to fit all in case (gauges was a problem a bit) . Next time I'll design bigger case, for sure (that one was designed for 1.9 kW condensor ) .











Final no-load temp .



Final temperatures on 225W load = -94*C .

Cascade is VERY HEAVY tunned, to hold 300W+ , it can be tunned without problems for sth like -97*C@225W and sth like -105*C no-load, but I prefer heavy tunning for huge loads : .



Power consumption when cascade is running at -100*C is around 1100 W . So not so much I think .

Strange that cos phi = 1 on wattmeter, compressor motors are inductive and give a ~0.7-0.8 generally. Maybe there's a compensation because of the mix with fan and other electrical elements...

KumKum is generally a bit nervous in mine opinion . I've been just offline from 27 till 1.10 and now I've been fucxxx busy . But KumKum has had his unit at home already .
